Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Sullivan was born in and raised within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam is Jazmine's mom, and is a former back-up singer of Philadelphia International Records. Her father proposed her to take on an appointment as curator for the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She together with her family then relocated into the landmark. In 2005 she graduated from Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts with an alumnus in vocal music. Sullivan began singing as a contralto in the children's choir, then shortly after, in the adult group. He was exposed to secular music but was initially minimal "I had solos singing in the church and was approached by someone to go on an evangelical label when I was eleven but I wasn't ready to do that," she recalls. After that, McDonald's held a contest for children in large cities. I had the opportunity to sing "Accept What God Allows" on The show Showtime at the Apollo. And the audience was very supportive. When she was 13 years old, she performed along in a duet with Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday celebration. Sullivan aged 15, was first signed to Jive Records. The label recorded her an entire album, but the album was never released. Sullivan was ultimately dismissed on the labels. Missy Elliott was the producer for a few tracks that were on the album she released as her first. The most notable of these was "Backstabbers" composed by Timbaland that Elliott wrote and produced, was her favorite song.
